Calligraphy in the Western World : Handwriting Analysis of Ben Franklin’s Signature

This is Benjamin Franklin’s signature, I’m
tracing over it. I’m getting to know Benjamin Franklin in a way that you can’t just by reading
a book about him. What I’m picking up is, ok, this is a very careful man, he’s literary,
he’s very literary. He has a tremendous power of concentration, very, very high ideals,
humble, exacting. And in this particular case look at this under, this flourish underneath
this signature. He had to use his whole arm to do this. I think it comes up around like
this, yeah it comes up around like this and around, and loops around just, it’s a flourish,
the way I showed you the flourish before, o.k. this is a very, very emphatic end to
his signature. So what I know, knowing what he signed, knowing about the document that
he signed and just going over his handwriting is that this man knew that he was taking his
life in his hands when he signed this.

I hate when incompetent people are placed in a position where they have to represent an industry, because then that industry has to spend a vast amount of time trying to recuperate it's integrity.
