Calligraphy Capital Letters : Calligraphy Letters: Capital G, Q

Calligraphy Capital Letters : Calligraphy Letters: Capital G, Q

The letters “G” and “Q” also built on the
oval shape. So, we’re going to start with the letter “Q”, which is of course an “O”
with a tail; so there’s the “O”, and there’s the tail, it drops down a little bit below
the baseline. So there are lots of different options for “Q”; you can start the tail inside,
you can keep the tail above the baseline; (if I can squeeze out enough ink to do this,
yes) so there’s the “Q”. Letter “G”, a little more demanding, the letter “G”. So we’re going
to start with the oval shape, and the cap, then we’re going to go right to the center
of the letter, and make a horizontal stroke, and then we’re going to pull that stroke down,
so here we go; 1, 2, 3 and 4. And if you got everything right, it’s going to connect. But
if it doesn’t, it’s alright, you can go back and you can sort of touch up the letter a
little bit; 1, 2, 3, 4, there you go, the letter “G”. Again, this will take some practicing,
because we’ve got four strokes that we’re trying to get in perfect alignment, and keep
our pen inked.
