Is the rice cooked before or just soaked in water ?

Line a large pot with these.3 medium cabbages – blanch in hot water, remove stem. Stuff them like burritos and cut off ends to make them tidy. Place in onion/garlic lined pan and lay each layer down with garlic pieces on top.2 cups chicken broth and fill pan with water. Use a heavy plate to weigh down the stuffed cabbage. Use the juice of 7 lemons to cover the top of cabbages and boil for 1 hour in pan.

This was delicious. I made 2 batches one with meat, the other without. I like the meatless batch because it was softer. I think next time i will cook the ground beef first. I think mixing the rice with the raw meat makes the malfouf tougher. Thanks for the lovely recipe.
Hi thank u for the recipe,, I love to try to cook it.
