15 Things About Sakima You Should Know! From Calligraphy to Coffee Making | Billboard

– Hey this is Billboard, and
you should know me Sakima. If my life was a book, the title
would be, “The Queer Bank.” I grew up all over England, really, but my family are from the north and I’ve lived a lot down south, as well. The last movie I saw was “Mother.” My first job was, I was a
barista, not a barrister in the law of court, but a
barista who makes coffee. I would love to master
the skill of calligraphy. I always wanted to be
a dancer or an actor, or maybe some kind of really
embarrassing fusion of the two. What motivates me in
my artistry is the lack of representation of queer
people within popular music. My guilty pleasure? Oh good grief, there’s too many. If a genie appeared,
like a hot daddy genie, like came out of a bottle
right now, I would wish for I would just really wish for
a lifetime supply of coffee and cigarettes and I
know that’s disgusting. I would love to visit Barcelona
because all of my family have been there, individually
and together without me and I’ve always been left behind,
and I’m so bitter about it that I want to go on a holiday by myself and not invite them. My favorite social media
platform is Instagram because you can have such
an amazing combination of visuals, be it picture
or film, with text. My favorite album of all, all, all time is Antonina Johnson’s “Bad Girl”. The first song I ever wrote,
properly, was a song called, “Five Year Guy” and it was
just piano and just my voice. People should listen to
my music if they want to hear pop music with
queer narratives in it and also if they even like
music they should listen. ♪ Don’t know what else to do ♪ ♪ 420 bedrooms over ♪
